Following the reading and a reflection on the theme of the reading from Matthew 7:1-5 (Do not judge, or you too will be judged) which stressed in stern terms the need to look to ourselves first and our own shortcomings, and to remember that we will be judged in the same way that we may judge others, discussions focussed on the Actions from the previous meeting.

  1. Lay Roles and Responsibilities

Andrew has been in touch with Kevin to ensure these are communicated to Sunday readers.
  2. Fr Danny handed out Guidelines for Readers sheet, obtained by Maggie at a training day for readers held by the Diocese of Portsmouth, to be used at the next parish readers training session.
  3. It was decide that for now the commemorative kneelers will be left either side of the statue pedestals at the front of the church, so they can, if needed, be used by those sitting on the front row of seats.
  4. A discussion took place about the difficulty of keeping the hymn numbers on the hymn board when it is being lifted into place. Trish will look into the possibility of making some sort of ‘wooden slider or stopper’ to lock over the sides of the board and keep the numbers from sliding.
  5. Prayer intention pin board is now at the back of the church.
  6. Following on from the discussions at the last meeting on the Doxology which follows the Eucharistic Prayer, the suggestion is that we put a notice in the newsletter on several consecutive Sundays. This will point out to the Congregation that this should not actually be said or sung by them, but by the priest, and that in future the priest alone will say the Doxology, and the ‘Great Amen’ following will be sung, led by the choir. Understandably this may take a few weeks for everyone to get used to the change. ACTION GILL AND TRISH

  7. PPC Magazine – As Michael was unable to be at the meeting we were not able to progress this. However, Trish’s son is taking GCSE photography and she suggested that he may be willing to take the photos for the magazine, having liaised with Michael and others over what they require. Trish will put the idea to him. ACTION TRISH
  8. PPC photos – Jill is on the case with this and has most of them. Jacqui and Hannah will email photos to her.
  9. Sacred Heart web site – Jonathan Blackburn is going to discuss the handover of this task with Richard Sugden and then take advice from St. Bede’s parish webmaster.
  10. AOB:
    1. CAFOD : Brendan had had 3 replies to the notice in the newsletter - from Glenys Meurch, Roisin Carruthers and Elizabeth Carruthers. He hopes to arrange a meeting in July, 17th, at which Linda Mussell will be present to go through CAFOD’S role, what it does and how we can get involved.

Fr Danny has had a letter from CAFOD – the government has asked all aid agencies to leave Zimbabwe.
    2. Children’s liturgy – Jacqui would like us to try and recruit a few more leaders for the children’s liturgy. This is something that can go in the parish newsletter in September, following the summer holidays.
    3. Next meeting 23rd July.
    4. Can we ask Andrew to add Fire Risk Assessment to next Agenda?
