In 2008, Ash Wednesday will be 06 February and Easter Monday will be 24 March. It was agreed that a series of three talks should be arranged during the Lenten period, with engaging and inspirational speakers to be invited.
The idea of linking these talks with a Parish project or other activity was also discussed. It was agreed that a CAFOD speaker should be invited to speak at one of the talks.
ACTION: Identify and invite a CAFOD representative – MichaelOther Lent events were discussed, including Lenten Lunches and the CAFOD Family Fast Days. The next programmed Family Fast Day is to be Friday 15 February. It was agreed that the CAFOD talk should precede this, on Wednesday 13 Feb, and that we should aim for a follow-up Saturday morning activity on 16 February.
ACTION: Consider options for Saturday activities with the Confirmation Group and other interested parishioners - IanSubject to double-checking the school half-term dates, it was decided to aim for the subsequent talks to be held on Thursday 28 February and Wednesday 12 March.
ACTION: check half-term dates - MaggieThe theme of this programme of three talks was discussed. It was agreed that they should follow the progression of World; Church and Community; and Individuals. "What difference can we make in the World" (CAFOD); "What difference do we make to our Church and Community" (Deacon Pat Taylor); and "What difference can I make and how will I change?" (Tony Cashman).
Publicity requirements were discussed and agreed.
