Minutes of Parish Pastoral Council 27th April 2006.

Present; Andrew Edworthy, Hannah Goddard, Carole Johnson; Roisin Carruthers, Jacqui Clark.

Meeting opened with a very interesting discussion on Acts of the Apostles 5; 27-33 regarding witness to Christ and how we could further this. One possibility is making overtures towards the other churches in Hook and the surrounding villages, along the lines of "Churches Together" in Hartley Wintney.

It was decided that with Father Danny’s permission we should create a lending library of Faith related books at the back of the church near the Font. ACTIONS: Andrew to discuss with Fr Danny and Roisin to provide a loan notebook for parishioners to sign books in and out.

Bishop’s Visit on 23rd June - Arrangements are in hand for a marquee, public address and catering. Jill Blackburn has kindly volunteered to organise the liturgy. This is a large task and we will request Trish to put an item in the newsletter asking if anyone would like to help Jill plan the Mass for Bishop Crispian’s visit.

Between Easter and Pentecost bishop Crispian has asked each parish in the diocese to pray on the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit – ACTION: Andrew to ask Fr. Danny if we can include these intentions in our Sunday bidding prayers.

This lead to a general discussion on the bidding prayers, could they be more personal? It was suggested there be a book of intentions in each church which could be filled in by parishioners and brought up for inclusion in the Bidding prayers each Sunday. They could be placed near the votive candles during the week and near the back of the churches on Sundays. The books could be part of the 50th year celebration and blessed by Bishop Crispian at the Mass on the 23rd June. ACTION: Andrew to discus with Fr Danny.

Beyond Café

Our priority is to build strong links to other churches in the area with a view to joining them for Lenten courses, discussion groups and social events.

To deepen our faith, we will tap into the resources available at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre for individual speakers.

Should we have a Parish Mission? Yes. ACTION: Andrew to investigate resources and timing with Fr Danny.

Communication: we do not seem to be connecting with the parish as a whole ACTION: Roisin will do a short version of the minutes for general distribution at Mass on Sunday.

Note Taken of the Flower Festival on weekend of 17th May. Concert Friday evening, teas and church open all weekend.

Next meeting 8:00pm 8th June all welcome.
