Minutes of Pastoral Parish Council Meeting

19 January 2006.

Present: Fr.Danny Burns,Michele Linehan-Hill,Sr.Bibiana,Carole Johnson,Roisin Carruthers,Jill Blackburn,Andrew Edworthy,Ian Liddell.

Apologies John Marcotti.

  1. The Meeting opened with a reading from Mark 1 21-25 and a reflection and group discussion on the reading which ranged from "does evil exist and do we admit it" to was this Jesus’1st miracle and the first time he was challenged.
  2. We then moved on to the agenda with a reminder that the times for the Easter Services need to reach the parish magazines and Hook Focus for 9th March and that the publicity for the Café course needs to go in before 9th February-see Richard Sugden.
  3. Lending Library-Roisin to collate list of books for lending out if anyone brings any forward.
  4. There will be an open Parish meeting in March to discuss the Diocesan Pastoral Plan-details still to arrive from H.Q. so date cannot be set yet but will be a Thursday evening.
  5. John has made contact with surrounding parishes as per diocesan requests so that neighbouring parish mass times and contact details are now available in both churches.
  6. PPC Questionnaire will be given out @ Mass on 29th Jan and 5th Feb Andrew to do analysis of responses in order to prioritize PPC actions for 2006.Feeback to be published in Newsletter after next PPC meeting in February. Next Meeting to be Wed 22 Feb due to café course.
  7. Details of Café talks to be arranged-times7.45-9.30.2nd February on going for 8 weeks to cover Lent. Roisin to ask for loan of large TV when publicizing talk from pulpit on 29th January. Carole will arrange Hartley Wintney talks to coincide with these dates-H.W. talks to be held daytime for those not able to come to evening meetings. Carole to bring video over on Thursdays when setting up.

Fairtrade Sunday will be 12 March 2006 to coincide with Lenten Lunch and Fairtrade Fortnight. Supplies to be ordered from Methodists in Overton again. Carole to enquire whether Fair trade stall possible that week at Hartley Wintney Wednesday market

Lenten Lunch to run from 12.00 so that people don’t have to go home from church and then back again.

Father Danny agreed to a Children’s Mass between Easter and Pentecost.

A reminder for raffle prizes for Senior Citizens party on 29th January.

Marriage and Family life update-Ian to provide a synopsis of Bishop’s letter for Newsletter and will be a topic for March PPC Agenda.
