• Chairman Andrew Edworthy introduced the scope of the meeting and outlined the Agenda.
• A Reading from John 13. 1-15 was given some discussion and reflection followed.
• The group asked for prayerful intercession to make good decisions and to give solid leadership to the Parish.

1. Day of Recollection at Park Place

• Andrew Edworthy spoke about the day of Park Place and what a success it had been. Much of the day had been spent reflecting on the forthcoming CaFE meeting. The CaFE course is to run initially for 7 weeks with a Mass in the eighth week. Timing and publicity for the course was also discussed. (See attached notes).
• This led onto a discussion of Communication. Richard Sugden has in the past prepared entries for FOCUS magazine in Hook. We will ask for a volunteer to carry on this work and hope that they will be able to co-ordinate entries in the other Parish Magazines in Hartley Wintney and Odiham. (Action Fr DB)
• Communication within the PPC will be by e-mail and phone with hard copies of e-mails sent to Jill and Hannah who do not have regular access to e-mail. Trish Davies will be asked to facilitate this. (Action AE)
• General Parish communications such as copies of the minutes will be placed on the Church notice boards in both Hook and Hartley Witney, and will be posted on the Parish web site. (Action AA & JMo)
• The photos and names of the PPC members will be posted on the website but not addresses or telephone numbers. Anyone wishing to contact the PPC members can do so after Mass or through Trish Davies at the Parish Office. Trish will have a phone numbers, addresses and e-mails for contacting all PPC members. We will contact Richard Sugden who maintains the website to review options for updating it. (Action AE & JMo)
• A board with photographs of the Parish Council will be placed at the back of each Church. (Action AA)

1. Liturgy Group

• Jill is organising an initial meeting of people for the Liturgy group.(Action JB)
• We urgently need to get more catechists for First Holy Communion and Confirmation. A few names were mentioned and we will ask for more volunteers (Action Fr DB)

1. Communications and Website

• This was largely discussed under Item 2 (see above). John Marcotti volunteered to help Andrew Edworthy with this project.

• A response to the draft paper was requested by the Deanery before 31 October. The group felt the paper was quite unclear. We discussed the issue of paid laity and agreed that we saw little conflict of interest between ‘paid expertise" and voluntary work. It was agreed that a bigger issue was finding the money to pay such people? It was felt that specific discussion questions on the paper would be of more help in generating a considered response. John Marcotti will report back to the Deanery meeting on the outcome of our discussions. (Action JMa)

• Andrew went through the schedule for the CaFE meeting. Preparations were well in hand.

• 13^th November Supporting Family Life Reading 8:00 – 9.30
• Wednesday 18^th & Thursday 19^th February 2004, Dr Jack Dominion will host a seminar for people involved in preparing couples for marriage at Park Place.
• CaFE Meetings. Every Thursday for 6 weeks. 8.00.
